What the Pop-Up Valve Does

The F119-012 pop-up valve is part of the pressure vessel's sealing system.

When the blast system is activated and the vessel begins to pressurize, the pop-up rises into its sealing position. This closes the vessel filling opening so pressure can build inside the abrasive vessel.

When the system is depressurized, the pop-up drops away from the opening, allowing abrasive media to be loaded into the vessel.

Because the pop-up operates every time the vessel is pressurized and depressurized, proper movement and sealing are essential for reliable pressure blast operation.

Male Pop-Up Configuration

The configuration is important when identifying the correct component:

F119-012 / C639 = MALE Pop-Up Valve

Universal / Uniblast pressure vessel systems use different pop-up configurations. For example, F119-028 is a female urethane low-pressure pop-up valve, while this F119-012 / C639 is the male-style pop-up valve.

These components should not be assumed interchangeable based solely on appearance.

Common Reasons for Replacement:

  • Pop-up is worn or damaged
  • Sealing area is nicked, gouged, or deteriorated
  • Pop-up does not move freely
  • Vessel leaks air around the filling opening
  • Vessel has difficulty building or maintaining pressure
  • Pop-up does not seat consistently
  • Existing component is damaged during vessel service
  • Rebuilding an older Universal / Uniblast pressure vessel

If the Pressure Vessel Won't Seal

The pop-up valve is only one part of the vessel sealing system.

If the vessel leaks around the filling opening or will not pressurize properly, inspect the complete pop-up assembly, including:

  • Pop-up valve
  • O-ring or mating seal
  • Pop-up seat
  • Sealing surfaces
  • Pop-up stem or operating components
  • Areas where abrasive may prevent proper seating

Abrasive particles trapped between sealing surfaces can prevent a good seal even when the pop-up itself is still serviceable.

Inspect the Sealing Surfaces

Whenever the pop-up is serviced, clean and inspect the mating sealing surfaces carefully.

Look for:

  • Cuts or gouges
  • Excessive wear
  • Abrasive embedded in sealing surfaces
  • Corrosion
  • Distortion
  • Damaged O-rings or seals
  • Components that prevent free pop-up movement

Correct any problems before repressurizing the vessel.

Finding Parts for Older Universal / Uniblast Equipment

Universal Equipment Manufacturing and Uniblast Technologies pressure blasting systems can remain in industrial service for many years, but individual vessel components can become difficult to identify when working from older manuals and exploded diagrams.

That's why we include the original manufacturer part number, cross-reference number, configuration, and exploded diagram item number whenever possible.

For this component, the key identification information is:

Universal / Uniblast F119-012 / C639 – Male Pressure Vessel Pop-Up Valve – Diagram Item #7

Important:

This listing is for one Universal Equipment Manufacturing / Uniblast Technologies F119-012 / C639 Male Pop-Up Valve, identified as Item #7 in the exploded parts diagram.

This is the MALE pop-up valve. Verify the existing vessel configuration and original part number before ordering.

O-rings, seats, pressure vessels, handway components, valves, piping, and other parts shown in the exploded diagram are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise.

Pressure Vessel Safety

Completely depressurize and isolate the blasting system before servicing the pop-up valve or any pressure-vessel component. Never loosen, remove, adjust, or service the pop-up assembly while the vessel is pressurized.

After installation, inspect the complete pop-up and sealing system and verify proper vessel operation before returning the equipment to service.
