What the Protective Glass Does

The viewing area of a blast cabinet operates in an extremely abrasive environment. Dust, abrasive particles, and rebounding blast media continually strike the inside of the cabinet during operation.

The F104-010 protective glass forms part of the cabinet's viewing-window system, helping protect the viewing area while allowing the operator to safely see the workpiece and blast pattern.

As the protective glass becomes scratched, etched, chipped, or otherwise difficult to see through, it can be replaced to restore visibility.

Interior & Post-1999 Exterior Application

There is an important application detail with this glass:

F104-010 is used as the interior protective glass and is also specified for use as the exterior quick-change glass on post-1999 equipment.

Because Universal / Uniblast window configurations changed over the years, customers should verify the machine's age and existing glass dimensions before ordering.

Works with the F104-015 Window Underlayment

This glass is part of the same viewing-window area as the F104-015 11" x 26" protective underlayment we just listed.

The underlayment provides an additional replaceable protective layer to help reduce abrasive exposure and extend the useful life of the glass underneath.

For best visibility and protection, inspect both the protective glass and underlayment during routine blast cabinet maintenance.

Light Scratches & Chipped Edges Are Normal

IMPORTANT: Light scratches and minor chipped edges are considered normal for this protective glass.

Because this component is intended as protective blast cabinet glass, minor cosmetic imperfections that do not affect its intended installation or function may be present.

Common Reasons for Replacement:

  • Glass has become etched or cloudy from abrasive exposure
  • Visibility through the cabinet window has deteriorated
  • Excessive scratching
  • Existing protective glass is damaged
  • Window protection is missing
  • Routine blast cabinet maintenance
  • Refurbishing an older Universal / Uniblast cabinet
  • Replacing the exterior quick-change glass on post-1999 equipment

Maintaining Blast Cabinet Visibility

Clear visibility is important for both productivity and operator control. Continuing to blast through badly etched or cloudy glass makes it more difficult to see the workpiece and accurately direct the blast stream.

Regular inspection and replacement of the protective window components can help maintain a clear working view while protecting the rest of the cabinet window assembly.
