What it does:

When a pressure washer is running with the trigger gun closed, the unloader may place the pump into bypass and recirculate water. Because the same water is repeatedly circulated through the pump, its temperature can rise quickly.

At approximately 140°F, the Suttner thermal relief valve opens and releases the overheated water. Cooler supply water can then enter the pump and reduce the temperature. The valve automatically resets once conditions return to normal.
