Replaces Titan 800-243 Outlet/Piston Valve Seat – 740i, 840i, 1140i & PowrTex
Keep your Titan airless sprayer fluid section operating properly with this aftermarket outlet/piston valve seat that replaces Titan Part #800-243.
The 800-243 provides the sealing surface for the outlet check valve in the piston assembly. During operation, the outlet valve ball repeatedly opens and closes against this seat to control material flow through the displacement pump.

What the 800-243 Valve Seat Does
The displacement pump relies on inlet and outlet check valves to move coating through the fluid section in one direction.
The 800-243 outlet valve seat works with the outlet valve ball inside the piston assembly. As the piston reciprocates, the ball opens and closes against the seat, allowing material to move through the pump while preventing reverse flow.
If the seat becomes worn, pitted, nicked, or contaminated with dried coating, the valve may not seal properly.
Common Signs of a Worn Outlet Valve Seat:
- Pump has difficulty building pressure
- Sprayer will not maintain pressure
- Excessive cycling with the gun closed
- Reduced fluid output
- Erratic pressure
- Poor priming or inconsistent pump operation
- Visible pitting or erosion on the valve seat
- Outlet valve ball will not seal properly
A Nice Feature of This Particular Seat
Titan's service instructions for these fluid sections specifically say to inspect the outlet valve seat and, if damaged, reverse or replace the seat. In other words, the seat was designed so that an undamaged opposite sealing surface may sometimes be reused before replacement becomes necessary.
If both sealing surfaces are worn or damaged, replacement is the proper repair.
Inspect the Rest of the Outlet Valve
When replacing the 800-243 seat, inspect the other components in the piston outlet valve assembly, including the:
- Outlet valve ball
- Outlet valve cage
- Nylon washer
- Outlet valve retainer
- Outlet valve seal
- Piston rod
- Upper and lower packings
A badly worn ball or damaged mating component can prevent a new seat from sealing correctly.
Don't Automatically Blame the Packings
Pressure problems in an airless pump aren't always caused by worn packings.
Debris or wear at either the inlet or outlet check valve can allow material to bypass internally and create many of the same symptoms as worn packings.
When rebuilding the fluid section, it's a good idea to inspect the:
- Piston rod
- Upper and lower packings
- Outlet valve ball and seat
- Inlet/foot valve ball and seat
- Valve cages and retainers
- O-rings and backup rings
- Fluid-section sealing surfaces
Finding Parts for Older Titan Equipment
The 740, 840 and 1140 families have been sold in several configurations and under slightly different model designations over the years.
That's why we include both the original Titan part number and the common part description. Customers may encounter 800-243 described as either an Outlet Valve Seat or Piston Valve Seat depending on the parts catalog they're using.
Important:
This listing is for one aftermarket outlet/piston valve seat that replaces Titan Part #800-243.
The outlet valve ball, cage, washer, retainer, packings and other fluid-section components are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise.
This is an aftermarket component and is not manufactured by Titan or SpeeFlo.
Because older sprayers may have been repaired or fitted with different fluid-section components during their service life, always verify the 800-243 part number for the pump currently installed on your equipment before ordering.
Completely relieve fluid pressure, unplug the sprayer, and follow the manufacturer's pressure-relief procedure before servicing the fluid section.
