Replaces Titan 704-289 / SprayTech 508676 Piston Guide Bushing – Epic & EPX
Restore proper piston alignment in your airless sprayer fluid section with this aftermarket piston guide bushing that replaces Titan Part #704-289 and Wagner SprayTech Part #508676.
The piston guide bushing supports and guides the piston rod as it travels through the fluid section. A worn bushing can allow excessive piston movement or misalignment, contributing to packing wear, rod wear, fluid leakage, and poor pump performance.
This quality aftermarket bushing fits a wide range of Titan Epic, Advantage, PowrLiner and RentSpray equipment, along with Wagner SprayTech EPX and related Sherwin-Williams sprayers.

What the Piston Guide Bushing Does
As the displacement pump operates, the piston rod repeatedly travels through the fluid section at high speed.
The piston guide bushing supports the rod and helps keep it properly aligned during this reciprocating movement. Titan parts documentation identifies 704-289 as the bushing within the fluid-section assembly.
When the bushing becomes worn, excessive clearance can allow the piston rod to move laterally instead of traveling smoothly through the pump. This can place additional stress on the packings and other fluid-section components.
Common Signs of a Worn Piston Bushing:
- Excessive side-to-side movement in the piston rod
- Visible wear in the bushing
- Uneven piston rod movement
- Premature packing wear
- Repeated packing leakage
- Unusual wear on the piston rod
- Fluid-section noise or knocking
- Bushing is damaged during disassembly
Inspect the Piston Rod Too
If the guide bushing is worn enough to require replacement, inspect the piston rod carefully before reassembling the pump.
Look for:
- Scoring
- Grooves
- Pitting
- Corrosion
- Uneven wear
- Damage in the area that travels through the bushing and packings
Installing a new bushing around a badly worn piston rod may not correct the underlying problem.
While the pump is apart, it's also a good opportunity to inspect the upper and lower packings, cylinder, inlet and outlet valves, balls, seats, O-rings, and other sealing components.
Important:
This listing is for one aftermarket piston guide bushing that replaces Titan Part #704-289 and Wagner SprayTech Part #508676.
This is an aftermarket component and is not manufactured by Titan or Wagner SprayTech.
Because older sprayers may have had their fluid sections changed or rebuilt during their service life, always verify the 704-289 or 508676 part number for the pump currently installed on your machine before ordering.
Completely relieve fluid pressure and follow the manufacturer's pressure-relief procedure before servicing any airless paint sprayer.
