Replaces Titan SpeeFlo 182-921A Piston Valve / Seat Assembly – HydraPro & Commander

Service the fluid pump on your Titan / SpeeFlo airless equipment with this aftermarket piston valve / seat assembly that replaces Titan SpeeFlo Part #182-921A.

The 182-921A is part of the piston check-valve system inside the fluid pump. Working with the piston valve ball, it controls material flow through the displacement pump and helps prevent fluid from flowing backward during the pumping cycle.

Part Information:

  • Replaces Titan / SpeeFlo Part Number: 182-921A
  • Previous Part Number: 182-921
  • Product: Piston Valve / Piston Seat Assembly
  • Type: Aftermarket
  • Application: Fluid Pump / Displacement Pump
  • Equipment Type: Professional Airless Spray Equipment
  • Brand Compatibility: Titan / SpeeFlo

The 182-921A is shown as a piston seat assembly in Titan/SpeeFlo fluid-pump parts breakdowns and is used alongside the 920-103 13/16" stainless steel piston valve ball.

Fits Titan / SpeeFlo Equipment:

Admiral

  • Admiral 40:1

Commander

  • Commander 30:1
  • Commander 40:1

HydraPro

  • HydraPro III
  • HydraPro IV
  • HydraPro Super

Additional Equipment

  • Big 440
  • Boss
  • PowrMastic 40:1
  • Titan PowrCoat 730
  • Titan PowrCoat 940

Features:

  • Replaces Titan / SpeeFlo 182-921A
  • Replaces earlier 182-921
  • Also described as a piston valve or piston seat assembly
  • Used in the fluid pump piston check-valve system
  • Fits multiple Admiral, Commander and HydraPro models
  • Fits select PowrCoat equipment
  • Quality aftermarket repair component
  • Ideal for fluid-pump rebuilding and maintenance
  • Helps restore proper piston check-valve operation
  • Helps keep older professional Titan / SpeeFlo equipment in service

What the Piston Valve / Seat Assembly Does

The fluid pump relies on check valves to move coating in one direction as the displacement rod reciprocates.

The 182-921A provides the seating component for the piston check valve. The piston valve ball opens to allow material to pass during one portion of the pump stroke and closes against the seat to prevent reverse flow during the other.

When the valve or its sealing surface becomes worn or damaged, material can bypass internally rather than being efficiently displaced through the pump.

Common Signs of Piston Valve Problems:

  • Pump has difficulty building pressure
  • Pump will not maintain pressure
  • Excessive cycling
  • Reduced material output
  • Erratic or fluctuating pressure
  • Poor or inconsistent pump performance
  • Internal fluid bypass
  • Visible wear or damage to the valve seating surface

Inspect the Piston Valve Ball

Whenever servicing the 182-921A piston valve / seat assembly, inspect the mating piston valve ball.

The fluid-pump breakdowns show a 920-103 13/16" stainless steel ball used with the 182-921A assembly.

A worn, pitted, corroded, or damaged ball may not seal correctly against a new seat.

While the pump is apart, also inspect the:

  • Piston / displacement rod
  • Pump cylinder
  • Upper and lower packings
  • Packing springs and retainers
  • Foot / inlet valve
  • Inlet valve ball and seat
  • O-rings and seals

Don't Automatically Blame the Packings

A fluid pump that won't build or maintain pressure doesn't necessarily need new packings.

The piston and inlet check valves are just as important to pump operation. A leaking piston valve can allow coating to bypass internally and produce symptoms that can easily be mistaken for worn packings.

If you're rebuilding one of these older pumps, inspect the entire fluid section before deciding which components need to be replaced.

Finding Parts for Older Titan & SpeeFlo Equipment

The Admiral, Commander, HydraPro and related machines are older professional systems, and parts descriptions can vary depending on which catalog you're looking at.

That's certainly the case here: 182-921A may be described as either a “Piston Valve” or “Piston Seat Assembly.”

Using the original 182-921A part number is the best way to identify the component when working from an older parts breakdown.

Important:

This listing is for one aftermarket piston valve / seat assembly that replaces Titan / SpeeFlo Part #182-921A and earlier Part #182-921.

The piston valve ball, packings, displacement rod, cylinder, foot valve and other fluid-pump components are sold separately unless specifically stated otherwise.

This is an aftermarket component and is not manufactured by Titan or SpeeFlo.

Because this equipment may have been rebuilt or modified during decades of service, always verify Part #182-921A for the fluid pump currently installed on your machine before ordering.

Completely relieve fluid pressure and disconnect the equipment from its power or compressed-air source before servicing the fluid pump. Follow the manufacturer's pressure-relief procedure before disassembly.
