What the Cylinder Sleeve Does

The cylinder sleeve forms the working surface surrounding the piston and packings inside the fluid section of the airless pump.

During operation, the piston continuously travels through the packings while the pump develops thousands of PSI of fluid pressure. Over time, abrasive coatings, contamination, normal wear, or damaged packings can score or wear the inside surface of the cylinder sleeve.

Installing new packings into a badly worn or scored sleeve can result in premature packing failure. When rebuilding a fluid section, the sleeve should always be carefully inspected and replaced when necessary.
